Male group Super Junior has set a new record for the year. Last night, Super Junior won yet another K-Chart for their title song “Mr. Simple” off their 5th studio album of the same name. This is their 2nd win for the month of September, but their 5th win straight in a row on KBS Music Bank.
They have held the #1 spot for 5 weeks in a row on Music Bank, the longest on record for 2011. The longest record on KBS Music Bank to hold the most consecutive #1 wins is Girls’ Generation with “Gee (2009)” for 9 weeks. They are followed by Jewelry’s “Baby One More Time (2008)” with 7 weeks.
Most recently, it was reported that Super Junior has also sold over 200,000 copies of “Mr. Simple” for the month of August according to the Gaon charts. They are the 2nd artists this year following their sunbae TVXQ to sell over 200,000 copies of their album. The album was released on August 3rd and immediately ranked 1st upon its release.
